Application for Oral Examination - Fall Semester 2023 (PhD Program)

1. Date

 

Please appropriately schedule your oral defense and the date for the thesis/dissertation submission in order to facilitate the administratively school-leaving procedures.

 

2. Application

Student must fill in online application and submit forms to department office 1.5 months beforehand (in advance) to be confirmed qualification by Academic Council.

  • Fill in and print out defense application form (http://campus4.ncku.edu.tw/wwwmenu/program/mou/). The list of defense committee members is not required for application.
  • Upload thesis at perform plagiarism detection for thesis originality on NCKU Turnitin and print out the result (see attachment 2-2). Fill in a report about the result of plagiarism detection.

 

3. Required Documents for Application

(1) Application form for department review (see attachment 1, instruction)

(2) Defense application form (https://campus4.ncku.edu.tw/wwwmenu/program/mou/,see attachment 2)

(3) Report about the result of plagiarism detection (https://www.lib.ncku.edu.tw/news/news_show_ch_news.php?news_id=4898, see attachment 3), and similarity report (see attachment 4-1). For the sample of required documents, please refer to attatchment 2.

(4) Official Transcript

(5) Certificate of Passing PhD Qualifying Examination

(6) The list of examination committee members (see attachment 6, instruction)

(7) Proof of paper publication in journal(s)

(8) Primary draft thesis/dissertation

The candidate shall make a public presentation of the dissertation before the examination.

♦ NCKU shall require that the title of a thesis or dissertation should be presented in both Chinese and English on the outside front cover and that an English abstract should be provided if the abstract is written in Chinese.
